As travel bans became the new norm and small businesses around the world started shuttering, best friends and passionate travelers, Emilie Bridon and Erika Takeuchi, decided they had to do something. Born out of a love for travel, food, and discovery, Emilie and Erika founded TROVE, a subscription and gift box that offers a new way to experience the rich culture and traditions of a city from the comfort of your home.
Emilie and Erika cultivate connections with local experts around the world, and curate experiences that offer TROVE Travelers a unique window into local culture. With every destination, TROVE Travelers can look forward to guided, hands-on experiences with local experts and beautiful boxes of curated goods and products sourced from the featured region. They’ve taken TROVE Travelers to Florence, Italy, Kyoto, Japan, and they’ve just released a special Holiday Gift Box featuring their hometown, Seattle, Washington.
The Seattle Box will pay homage to the Northwest coffee culture through a live Coffee Brewing & Tasting experience with US Barista Champ, Sam Spillman. We’re so excited to have MiiR’s Pourigami and coffee filters in their box as part of this unique offering alongside Seattle’s independently owned Caffe Vita’s Holiday Blend and so many other incredible small businesses.
The Seattle box will also include a live Cooking Class with Eat Seattle owner and chef, Liz Philpot. Chef Liz will immerse your senses and skills in a dish that uses traditional Northwest Fall/Winter ingredients, and the TROVE Holiday Gift Box will include local favorites that you’ll cook with, such as Mama Lil’s Pickled Peppers, San Juan Island Sea Salt, and Market Spice’s Herbs de Provence.
TROVE has multiple ambitions, first of which is to bring the joy of discovering new places, people, and cultures to those yearning for them, especially during this time of restriction. But, second, is to support small businesses around the world who have been the casualties of the fallen tourism industry due to the widespread shutdowns. To do this, TROVE sources local ingredients for each box, and they also donate 20% of their profits directly to the host businesses featured in each box.
“It’s so important to us that when it is safe to resume travel that the beautiful gems we know we have yet to discover are still right where they should be. This is not only a passion project for us -- it’s also our small contribution to those who have given us so much in our past travels,” Co-Founder Emilie Bridon said.
This is a perfect gift for the travel-lover, foodie, and anyone looking for a virtual escape this winter. Check out TROVE at www.hello-trove.com, and shop small this holiday season.
