In April three of Splash’s country leaders, Dawit (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), Dora (Kolkata, India) and Dhruba (Kathmandu, Nepal) spent two weeks in Seattle, where Splash is headquartered. This rare opportunity allowed for them to meet in “one central office to update and train, share and learn, challenge and support each others’ teams,” including their Seattle-based team, according to Executive Director Eric Stowe.
Dawait, Dora and Dhruba (also known as the 3Ds) are native to their respective countries and oversee Splash’s work in these areas, leading programs focused on citywide WASH in schools. In other words, ensuring kids have access to clean water, clean hands and clean toilets. Long term, Splash envisions 100% school coverage in targeted cities, local ownership of their country offices, and greater government buy-in of their work.
The MiiR impact team was honored to invite the 3Ds to our Flagship store. “It was especially encouraging to hear about their firsthand interactions with the students whose lives we play a part in empowering,” said Director of Impact Rebecca Papé. “Through our partnership with Splash and the hard work of their country leaders, MiiR is able to reach kids deserving of nothing less than a bright future. Spending time together around the table reminded me that this work is collective, requiring true partnership, commitment and community."
Every purchase of a MiiR product supports trackable clean water and health projects. To date, MiiR’s partnership with Splash has funded two clean water projects in Kathmandu, Nepal (totaling 13 schools) and one in Kolkata, India (10 schools).
