Shipping & Receiving Specialist

MiiR is looking for a skilled professional to fill a full-time role as the Shipping and Receiving Specialist in our Everett, Washington distribution center.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to do the following:


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Shipping

Facilitate LTL, FCL, and small parcel shipments:
  • Routing carriers; determines most economical and efficient shipping method
  • Managing any transportation issues; Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
  • Checks items to be shipped against work orders to confirm that quantities, destination, and routing are accurate
  • Assist with loading small parcel pick-ups
  • Assist with fulfilling orders and/or loading when assigned
  • Prepare, package, document and deliver outgoing materials for international and domestic shipments (Bills of lading, commercial invoices, Shippers Letter of Instructions, etc)
  • Oversee data system for tracking of goods and shipments
  • Communicate with suppliers, drivers and staff for smooth shipment.
  • Stage loading area accordingly

Receiving

Facilitate LTL, FCL, small parcel deliveries:
  • Direct contact with Supply Chain Manager on inbound containers
  • Coordinating / scheduling inbound container deliveries
  • Assist with container unload when assigned
  • Count / Receive inventory into ERP system
  • Returns Processing; Quality control customer returns; Storage or disposal of items
  • Oversee data system for tracking of goods and shipments
  • Communicate with suppliers, receivers, drivers and staff for smooth shipment.
  • Stage unloading area accordingly

Other

  • Assist Fulfillment Specialist when needed to pick, pack and ship orders
  • May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records
  • Liaison to Customer Service and their shipping inquiries / requests 
  • Assist with other Operations tasks when assigned
  • Keep a tidy working environment
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; 
  • May shrinkwrap pallets
  • May assist in locking/unlocking of warehouse
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives;
  • Continuous quality improvement of objectives, safety, and environmental standards
  • Leads, guides, and trains employees performing related work

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and company standards
  • Ability to read and write
  • Records maintenance skills
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
  • Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Strong knowledge of domestic / international shipping methods and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems
  • Knowledge on using handheld scanners
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance
  • Ability to lead and train staff
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
  • Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Moderate physical activity; Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
