Dear Reader and Friend,

A favorite company practice at MiiR is to find a way together. 2023 tested this practice more than any year prior, and I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for having you alongside us through it all. It was a year marked by changes and challenges shaped by broader economic forces, particularly affecting our Impact & People programs. 2023 put our resilience to the test and reinforced our commitment to making a positive impact.

As a seasoned athlete and coach, I firmly believe that we learn as much from our losses as we do from our wins. And I do not doubt that the lessons we've learned this season will only make us stronger.

I'm excited to share our 2023 Impact Report and Impact Timeline, offering some insights into our journey. Each data point represents a moment of growth, camaraderie, and perseverance that makes us who we are today. Our generosity is made possible by your support; thank you for your belief in our mission through 2023 and beyond.

All the best,

Total Motivation

MiiR ToMo

Total Motivation or "ToMo," is a framework developed by the Vega Factor that captures different types of motivation within an organization including play, purpose, potential, and inertia, to understand their impact on performance and culture.

A company's ToMo is rated on a scale of -100 to +100 and serves as a quantitative measure of the factors influencing employee engagement and performance. We administer our ToMo survey quarterly which has an 85% response rate. To learn more about ToMo, watch this short video.

Emissions Over the Years

2023 Insights

In 2023, our footprint decreased from 13,038.75 to 9,637.7 tCO2es. This drop is mainly due to macroeconomic slowdowns, which resulted in reduced purchases from suppliers. Nevertheless, our supply chain continues to become more efficient, driven by the transition of the energy grid towards renewable sources and our ongoing collaborative efforts with suppliers to improve our processes.

In keeping with previous years' trends, stainless steel continues to be our largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, accounting for 54% of our total footprint.

Measuring Our Footprint

Measuring our carbon footprint gives us a clear target for improvement. Our footprint is measured on an annual basis with the help of Change Climate (formerly known as Climate Neutral).

OIA Drinkware Co-Lab

This year, we continued our work in tandem with Stanley and YETI as part of a Drinkware Co-Lab, facilitated by the OIA’s Climate Action Corps.

In collaboration, our focus is on transforming manufacturing practices, a major contributor to the environmental footprint of food and beverage containers. Key objectives include transitioning industry suppliers to 100% renewable electricity and establishing emissions reduction targets aligned with scientific standards for supplier facilities.
