Designing Energy: Inside Ray Dak Lam’s Creative Process
“When MiiR asked me to create a Lunar New Year collection for the Year of the Fire Horse, I wanted to capture its energy in a unique way.”
Ray’s design blends modern geometry and abstraction with visual references drawn from Chinese folk painters and designers like Ikutanaka. The result is bold yet balanced—dynamic lines, layered movement, and symbolic forms that feel both contemporary and deeply rooted in tradition.
For Ray, the project was also personal. Lunar New Year has always been tied to family, and with both his father and sister born in the Year of the Horse, the collection carries an added layer of meaning.
