Poor quality

Our french press came out of the box with warped seals and melt marks. Outside of obvious manufacturing defects, the design is finicky and overly complicated.

Fail

I have really tried to find something good about this French press. I bought it without reading the reviews because everything I have bought from MIIR is top notch, high quality and the customer service is over the excellent. It drips, doesn't strain well despite the new design cup and the screen has bunched up all around the edge-thought I could find another use for it-maybe watering plants outside? I think it's going to the thrift shop-it does look nice on a shelf. Tried to embrace it, ended up buying a Secura- less $, stainless steel, came with an extra screen and doesn't drip, and looks nice. Sorry, MIIR this one needs to go back to the drawing board!

Has some issues, but happy with product.

I do somewhat agree with reviewers that have said this is a complicated press, but that being said, just leave the basket out and use it like a normal press and it's no more complicated. The complication is the trade-off for not over-extracting the coffee. Agree with others that the spout leaves a lot to be desired. Not so bad on the second cup, but pretty messy on the first. Finally, do agree that it leaves a lot of grounds in the press if you use it as the instructions show. However, if you take the screen back off the basket (handle in a way that you aren't burning yourself) and attach it back to the plunger before putting it back in, things work out just fine. Very happy with the customization on the product and overall appearance. I don't leave coffee sitting for too long and this does a fine job of keeping it warm for as long as I've left it.

MiiR French Press

Ultimately I’m happy with my purchase as I know that I now have an effective way to make coffee that will last a lifetime. However! I did replace the plunger with a. Bodum plunger from one of my many Bodum French presses for which I broke the glass. I also ditched the strainer at the bottom of the press. Now it works like a Bodum with the following BIG advantages: 1. Coffee stays very hot between pours unlike almost all other presses that go cold quickly. This is the biggest advantage that MiiR brings to a French press. 2. If it gets bumped or knocked over it doesnt break or even spill much. 3. Less grit - the Bodum plunger is a a better (perfect) fit and better quality plunger construction. What MiiR should do to make this product better. 1. Swap out the complicated plunger and replace it with.a simple ‘Bodum’ style / quality plunger. 2. Improve the lid seal so that it is more watertight. If the press is knocked over it won’t break but it does leak. Difficult to achieve with a plunger shaft going through the lid but there’ll be a solution. 3. Make the lid a little more heat proof. Perhaps it could be made of the same vacuum double walled material that the press is made from. 4. Tweak the spout to that it pours a little better (although this is a minor problem) If these fixes were made I’d give this product 5/5. Also , the product looks beautiful!!
